Landfill Tipping Fees
- County Residents: $39.28 per ton (minimum charge is $5)

For Commercial Haulers of Construction Demolition Debris
In an effort to monitor out-of-county waste, the Landfill will now be requiring that haulers disposing of construction and demolition debris have a building permit number of the location that they are hauling the above material from.
- The scale house attendants will use the Charlotte County's Building Department permitting software to look up the permit to verify that the waste is from Charlotte County.
- If the hauler does not have this information, then they will be charged the out-of-county waste rate of $78.54 per ton.
Prohibited Items
Federal and State Regulations have specified the following types of wastes that cannot be buried at the Charlotte County Landfill, and they cannot be mixed in with your garbage.
We accept small quantities from businesses at our Used Oil Storage Tank Area. Households can recycle their used motor oil and filters through our curbside program.
We will accept Lead-Acid Batteries from businesses at our Battery Storage Area. Households can recycle these batteries through our curbside program.
We accept small quantities from businesses at our Scale Building. Households can recycle these batteries at our Mini-Transfer Facilities.
Businesses must secure a hazardous waste hauler to properly handle and dispose of these materials. Households can recycle these Mercury Devices at our Mini-Transfer Facilities.
Businesses must secure a hazardous waste hauler to properly handle and dispose of these materials. Households can recycle these bulbs at our Mini-Transfer Facilities.
Businesses must secure a hazardous or bio-medical waste hauler to properly handle and dispose of these materials. Households can take their household hazardous waste and used hypodermic needles to our Mini-Transfer Facilities.
Drums must be empty and have holes punctured in them.
Background and History
Charlotte County has operated the Charlotte County Landfill since July 1975. The landfill consists of 640 acres of which 110 acres are currently being used for disposal. This disposal area is encircled with a bentonite slurry wall. This wall is below ground and serves as a liner, providing enhanced groundwater protection. The area of the landfill is projected to be in use until the year 2039. In addition to the current disposal area there are another 190 acres for future expansion. Residents and businesses can help extend the life of this facility by increasing their recycling participation.
