The site experienced erosion and widespread damage to playgrounds, park amenities, boardwalks, sidewalks, pavilions, buildings, lighting, asphalt, curbing and fencing caused by storm surge, strong winds, flooding, and windborne debris from multiple hurricanes.

Outfall culverts that were replaced or repaired due to hurricane damage are required to have a manatee exclusion grate installed. These grates help prevent manatees from getting stuck in the culvert. There are 37 culvert locations throughout the county that will have these grates installed.
SR 776 - Murdock Circle to Myakka River Bridge Median Landscape Project

Weir Inspection and Repair Design

The ELK 3.45, FOR 5.11 and a weir on the Pellam Waterway were found to be damaged. The cause of the damage is not known. An engineering firm has been retained to assess these three water control stuctures to determine the extent of the deficincies and then to prepare a cost effective plan that will successfully restore the structures so that they operate as designed.
