(Jan. 23, 2025) – The Charlotte County Community Development Department is warning the public about an ongoing email scam targeting individuals with fraudulent messages that appear to come from the department. These emails are part of a phishing scheme designed to steal sensitive personal information such as financial data.
The scam emails often contain suspicious links or attachments and may ask recipients to provide confidential details or solicit money. While these email messages may look legitimate, the Community Development Department would like to remind the public that we will never request sensitive information via email. Any official emails from the Community Development Department will have the @CharlotteCountyFL.gov domain.
Anyone who receives a suspicious email is urged to avoid clicking on any links or downloading attachments. Instead, contact Community Development directly at 941-743-1201 or CommunityDevelopment@CharlotteCountyFL.gov for verification.
