Water & Wastewater Facility Tours Scheduled for 2025

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Jan. 23, 2025) – The Charlotte County Utilities Department is offering tours of four facilities to give residents a behind-the-scenes look at the process of providing water and wastewater treatment and reclamation services to the community.

Tour dates are as follows (subject to change):

Wednesday, Feb. 26, 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Burnt Store Water Treatment and Reclamation Facility

Tuesday, March 4, 10 a.m.-12 p.m., West Port Water Reclamation Facility

Friday, March 28, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Peace River Water Treatment Facility

Tuesday, April 15, 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Rotonda Water Reclamation Facility

Visitors will learn about the water reclamation process, observe treatment plant operators in action, and learn about the transport, processing and disposal of biosolids. Attendees visiting the Burnt Store facility will be able to view the operations of both a water treatment plant (reverse osmosis) and a water reclamation facility.

Tour capacity is limited, and seats must be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Tour guests are asked to wear closed-toed shoes and be prepared to participate in a walking tour, mostly outdoors. Please email CCUPR@CharlotteCountyFL.gov or call 941-764-4304 to request a reservation.
