Lewis Earns ICMA Credentialed Manager Honor

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (March 11, 2026) – ICMA member and Deputy County Administrator Emily Lewis recently received the credentialed manager designation from the International City/County Management Association. Lewis is one of more than 1,300 local government management professionals currently credentialed through the ICMA Voluntary Credentialing Program.

ICMA’s mission is to advance professional local government through leadership, management, innovation, and ethics and by increasing the proficiency of appointed chief administrative officers, assistant administrators, and other employees who serve local governments and regional entities around the world. The organization’s 13,000 members in 27 countries also include educators, students, and other local government employees.

To receive the prestigious ICMA credential, a member must have significant experience as a senior management executive in local government; have earned a degree, preferably in public administration or a related field; and demonstrated a commitment to high standards of integrity and to lifelong learning and professional development.

“Emily’s leadership and dedication to public service makes her an ideal candidate for this prestigious honor,” said County Administrator Hector Flores. “Her experience serving our community and deep knowledge of a vast range of county operations allow her to help manage our organization to fulfill the mission, vision and values set by the County Commission.”

Lewis is qualified by nearly 20 years of professional local government executive experience. Prior to her appointment in 2020 as deputy county administrator, she served as an assistant county administrator and legislative manager.

Highlights of Lewis’s ICMA membership include chair of the assistants and deputies committee and chair of the Florida City and County Managers Association awards and scholarships committee. She currently serves on the FCCMA ethics committee and the conference planning committee. She is a founding board member of the Florida Women Leading Government and currently serves as treasurer.

Lewis has also made significant contributions to a number of other organizations, including serving on the investment advisory board for the Florida Local Government Investment Trust and as a board member of the Florida State Parks Foundation.
