SR776 Turn Lanes at Charlotte Sport Park

Project Description

The purpose of this project is to ease traffic during events held at either the Chalotte Sports Park or the County Fairgrounds. Making for safer and more efficient ingress and egress into those facilities. In addition this should help traffic from backing up as much on sr776 and reduce accidents.

The scope includes: The design, permitting, and construction of additional turn lanes on sr776 into the Charlotte Sports Park and County Fairgrounds. There is a right turn into the County Fairgrounds property and a right turn lane into the Charlotte Sports Park planned. As well as the planning of an additional left into the Charlotte Sports Park. 

This project is being requested and managed by Charlotte County. It will be designed to meet FDOT standards and will require their approvals. 

Project Location

SR776 / El Jobean Rd intersection at the Charlotte County Sport Park and County Fairgrounds. Approximately 3/4 of mile west of Flamingo Blvd.

Project Impacts

This project will improve traffic flow during events and high traffic volume situations. 

Latest Updates

RK&K has been selected as the engineering design firm.

To date: scope and fees have been agreed upon, and a kickoff meeting was held and initial data was shared. Following, a site survey was conducted to collect field data.

Currently, there is a preapplication meeting schedule with the Water Management District in August to discuss permitting. RK&K has begun initial design work as they work towards 60% plans. Ongoing progress meetings have been held, and the design team has been coordinating this design with county staff.
