CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Feb. 1, 2022) — The Florida Department of Environmental Protection is now accepting applications for the Florida Hurricane Restoration Reimbursement Grant Program. The program addresses coastal beach erosion incurred as a result of preparation for or damage sustained from Hurricane Ian or Hurricane Nicole after Sept. 23, 2022. It provides reimbursement to eligible applicants who own a residential property.
The grant program applies to single family homes, residential condominiums and cooperatives. The activity must be permitted prior to implementation, be related to sand placement, temporary or permanent armoring and have occurred after Sept. 23, 2022. This program provides reimbursement grants up to $150,000 per parcel with a 50/50 homeowner match requirement.
